Gas work will force temporary closure of Carmarthen streets

Gas work is leading to the temporary closure of King and Queen Streets in Carmarthen on Sunday, November 22, from 8am to 6pm. The closure is necessary to ensure public safety whilst Wales and West Utilities install three new gas supplies. The alternative route for south-west bound traffic will be via Church Street and Spilman Street detailed on the attached plan.

Llwynhendy road to close for two days in March

Works to create safe walking and cycling routes in the community of Llwynhendy will mean temporary closure of Parc Gitto for two days in March. Parc Gitto will be closed from its junction with Hendre Road for a distance of 350 metres in a northerly direction. The closure is necessary for Carmarthenshire County Council to carry out Safe Routes in the Community Work from 8am on Monday, March 2, to 6pm on Tuesday, March 3. The alternative route for north bound traffic will be to travel in a north-easterly direction along Hendre Road to its junction with Llwynhendy Road. At the junction, turn left and continue in a north-westerly direction to return to a point north of the closure. Vice versa for south bound traffic. Tree felling to close busy commuter road for five days

The link road into Llanelli from Trostre Roundabout to Farm Foods will be closed for five days in March for tree felling work. Commuters are advised to plan an alternative route in advance for the week beginning Monday, March 16. The closure involves about three-quarters of a mile of tree-lined carriageway. Carmarthenshire County Council executive board member for engineering and transport services , Cllr Colin Evans, said: “There were issues last year when high winds felled trees on this avenue causing major disruption to traffic while emergency removal work was carried out. “To prevent similar disruptions there is a need to thin and remove older trees with preventive maintenance to make sure that future storms do not cause further disruptions.” The alternative route for north-west bound traffic will be to travel in a northerly direction along the A4138 to its junction with Glyncoed Terrace. Notice of temporary service road closure at Bronglais Hospital

The service road which provides access to the back entrance of Bronglais hospital will be closed for essential works from July 16- September 2, 2012 required as part of the £38million Bronglais Hospital’s Front of House scheme. Traffic lights will be put up at the top of the service road so delivery vehicles can exit via the one way system at the top of the hospital. Assistant Project Director Hayley Thomas said: “This closure should mainly only effect deliveries and visitors to the management building. “For patients and their visitors car parking is already provided in the multi storey car park and outside the Postgraduate Centre. “We apologies for any inconvenience this might cause and we will do everything possible to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.” The Front of House scheme includes development of a new emergency department, clinical decisions unit, and GP out-of-hours services, purpose-built day surgery unit, incorporating new day case operating theatres, new short-s...
