Parents and guardians in Carmarthenshire are being asked to apply online for their child’s place in school. Admission to school is not an automatic process, it is a legal requirement that an application is submitted by the specified closing date. There is now a new system in place to make the process easier, more efficient and more accessible. Applications should be made online via i-Local , there is a simple form to complete, and information along with a school admissions handbook is available. Usually, the deadline is around a year before the child would expect to start at the school. For three-year-olds who wish to go to school part-time in 2018 and four-year-olds starting school from September 2017, the deadline for applications is January 31 next year. Pupils moving from primary to secondary school from September 2017 need to apply by December 16, 2016. Save time - do it online. That’s the message from Carmarthenshire County Council. A digital campaign has been launched to encourage more people to contact the council via the  iLocal pages on the website, and social media. Whatever people want to do – whether it is to pay for a service, report something, or find out information – it is available online. The My House feature also lets people know where their nearest things are, such as schools, surgeries, car parks, libraries, playgroups, recycling centres and a whole host of other services. The site has been designed to make it easier for people to contact the council both during and outside office hours. They can pay their council tax or business rates online, order and pay for a compost bin, or arrange collection of bulky goods. Requests can be made on iLocal for a number of things including housing repairs, disabled facilities grants, new council tax bills, leisure centre memberships and bus timetables.
