'Big Cheese' visits new Carmarthen cheese shop!

Carmarthen West MP, Simon Hart, visited the new Carmarthenshire Cheese Company’s creamery, shop and visitor centre to tour the premises and try the range of cheeses in the newly opened specialist cheese shop.
This was his first formal visit to the company since the opening of the site at Llanllwch close to the showground in Carmarthen in late 2015.
During his visit, Mr Hart commented on how impressed he was by the excellence of the locally made cheeses on offer and the way in which the company had designed and organised the new creamery. He said “I was so pleased to be able to see the fantastic new factory up and running as a result of so much hard work.
"This is one of Carmarthenshire’s great success stories and everyone should pay a visit and discover for themselves what an excellent range of cheeses are on offer.”
Carmarthenshire Cheese Company’s managing director, Steve Peace said “Simon Hart was very knowledgeable about the development of west Wales business opportunities particularly in the food processing industry.
"His insight and support will be of great help as we seek to sell more of our cheeses internationally while at the same time providing an affordable selection of really tasty cheeses and delicatessen products for local people to enjoy.”
The Cheese Company was founded by Steve and Sian Elin Peace in 2006 and is well known for its highly regarded Boksburg Blue cheese which is sold widely in the UK and overseas and has won several national and international awards at cheese festivals.
The company employs 11 local people and aside from its sales within the UK, exports its cheeses to the US, Canada and Japan.
The new Cheese Shop and Visitor Centre at Llanllwch is adjacent to the Park and Ride and close to the Nantyci Showground, west of Carmarthen.
It is open from 8.30 to 5.00pm every day.
