Good news for former Technium building

Llanelli’s former Technium building is heading towards full capacity says Carmarthenshire County Council’s Leader. Speaking at a meeting of the Executive Board, Cllr Meryl Gravell said that the Dafen-based building, which used to be a Performance Engineering facility, will be almost 90 per cent full come February.
The council took over the lease for the building from the Welsh Government in November.
Since then, a range of local businesses have taken up office space at the site, signalling good news for the local economy.
Among the first to move in were a skincare treatment company which uses high-end laser technology, and a company that specialises in IT and networks.
Due to move in this month are a small corporate legal firm and a high-end automotive engineering firm.
Other professional firms across various industry sectors, as well as youth enterprise businesses, are scheduled to locate there in the Spring.
Cllr Gravell said: “This building has been practically empty for many years, and will be 90 per cent full by February. This is excellent news.”
The authority has signed up to a five-year lease of the building, which offers a mix of office and industrial space. It has remained committed to the ethos of the building, which encourages creativity and innovation. Priority is being given to businesses that can demonstrate foresight and vision.
Carmarthenshire County Council, Coleg Sir Gar and the University of Trinity St David’s have also committed to offer on-site business advice. Anyone interested in leasing space at the facility can contact Jamie Reynolds on 01269 590214.
