New forum for Burry Port traders
Carmarthenshire County Council is establishing a forum for traders in Burry Port.
The council’s Head of Economic Development Wendy Walters said the intention was to set up a forum along the same lines as the one for traders in Carmarthen’s King Street.
She said: “We would be more than happy to work with local traders to look at the regeneration of Burry Port town and see how traders can benefit.”
Burry Port businessman and vice chairman of the Chamber of Trade Hefin Williams welcomed the move.
He said: “What we are looking for is a voice for the business sector in Burry Port. We have the Chamber of Trade and this is to set up a forum with traders and the council as part of the regeneration of Burry Port.”
Executive board member for regeneration Cllr Clive Scourfield said: “I very much welcome this. It shows that the business sector is active and that they feel that by getting together they can bring more trade to Burry Port. I am a great believer that unity is strength.”
