Appeal on Llanelli Town Hall problems

Residents in Llanelli are being urged to report any anti-social behaviour taking place in the Town Hall grounds by calling 101.
The Carmarthenshire Community Safety Partnership, which includes the council and the police, wants to make sure all incidents are reported to the police as soon as possible so that the appropriate action can be taken.
Officers say evidence is vital in order to tackle the problem.
It follows complaints of noise and criminal damage from nearby householders as well as criminal damage which has led to the council having to cut the electricity supply to the bandstand and nail down benches.
The local neighbourhood policing team is always proactive in dealing with any reported incidents and frequently patrols the area and will continue to do so.
Community safety manager Kate Thomas said: “We are encouraging residents living near Llanelli Town Hall to report all incidents of anti-social behaviour to the police straight away by calling 101. Early reporting allows officers to work with those committing the offences at an early stage to prevent further escalation and to provide long-term solutions for the community.
The area is well-patrolled by the local neighbourhood policing team and they will continue to respond proactively to any reported problems.”
Anti-social behaviour is a key priority for the Community Safety Partnership and a number of initiatives are underway across the county to tackle the problem.
The partnership also employs an anti-social behaviour co-ordinator and has a very successful warning letter system in place to deal with individuals causing trouble.
The council’s executive board member for community safety Councillor Pam Palmer said: “If residents have any problems in their area we need to hear about it so that we can take action. Anti-social behaviour can have a detrimental effect on people’s lives, but by working together we can really make a difference to the quality of life for people in Carmarthenshire.”
The Community Safety Partnership aims to make the county a safer place to live and visit.
Residents should call 101 to report any type of anti-social behaviour or 999 in an emergency.
