Hywel Dda Appoints Clinical Programme Director for Mid Wales Health Collaborative

Dr Sue Fish has been appointed to the role of Clinical Programme Director for Hywel Dda University Health Board (UHB) in the Mid Wales Healthcare Collaborative set up to bring about changes outlined in the independent study into the future provision of health services in the region.
The study by the Welsh Institute of Health and Social Care (WIHSC) at the University of South Wales spent nine months listening to the views of patients, the public and NHS staff across Mid Wales. The study, led by Professor Marcus Longley, made a number of recommendations about the future provision of health services in Mid Wales.
Following its publication, the Welsh NHS organisations providing services in Mid Wales agreed to set up the Mid Wales Healthcare Collaborative to bring about changes set out in the report. The collaborative was launched by the Minister for Health and Social Care, Prof Mark Drakeford at the Mid Wales Healthcare Conference in Newtown on 12th March 2015.
As Clinical Programme Director, Dr Fish will work closely with the Collaborative’s independent co-chairs Dr Ruth Hall and Jack Evershed and representatives from Hywel Dda UHB, Betsi Cadwalader UHB, Powys Teaching Health Board and the Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
Dr Fish, who is currently Medical Director for Hywel Dda UHB, will take up the post on 1 April with Dr Phil Kloer, Director of Primary, Community, Mental Health Services and Clinical Strategy, taking on the role of interim Medical Director in the period between 1st April and the appointment of a substantive post-holder.
Chief Executive of Hywel Dda UHB, Steve Moore said: “I am keen to ensure that we give this important project the strongest possible support and I am delighted that Dr Sue Fish will be taking up the role of Clinical Programme Director for Hywel Dda UHB in the collaborative.
“I want to record my sincere gratitude to Sue for her hard work and dedication to the role of Medical Director. I am very much looking forward to working with her in the collaborative. I am also grateful to Phil for supporting me as interim Medical Director whilst we seek a substantive replacement.”
