Housing Minister opens new council bungalows in Kidwelly

Welsh Government Housing and Regeneration Minister Carl Sargeant has officially opened new council bungalows in Kidwelly which will provide further good quality, affordable housing for people in the area.
The seven bungalows at Heol Losin Du form part of Carmarthenshire Council’s wider development which will see further affordable housing built across the county.
The Minister said: “I’m delighted to be here today to officially open these bungalows, which will make a real difference to a number of older people in the area and their families.
“Providing quality affordable homes to people across Wales is a Welsh Government priority and I’m pleased to see this commitment being delivered in Carmarthenshire.
“I’ve set a revised target of 10,000 new affordable homes over this term of Government and to support delivery against this ambitious target I want to see examples such as this replicated across the country.
“The development has comes as a result of the local authority being truly innovative and creative in how they can deliver much needed affordable housing in the area. It’s a great example of a council making best use of the resources they have at their disposal to support people and provide first class housing for the community.”
Councillor Tegwen Devichand, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Executive Board Member for Housing, said: “These new homes have been developed to be energy efficient and well insulated and designed to meet the needs of the tenants. It’s fantastic to see them officially opened.
“As well as being welcomed by our older tenants, this scheme has also attracted interest in the local primary schools, where, following a competition, the name “Heol Losin Du” was chosen for the development.
“The community benefits are clear in terms of jobs and training as well, with local builders and over 200 apprentices employed as part of the overall delivery of the Carmarthenshire Homes Standard programme."
