Nominations open for local health heroes in the Hywel Dda health area
Would you like to nominate a local healthcare hero?
Hywel Dda University Health Board’s Best of Health Staff Awards 2014 are now open for nominations.
The awards scheme is organised by the University Health Board to recognise and reward the extraordinary achievements of our staff and volunteers, many of whom often go beyond the call of duty in their work for the benefit of our patients.
Categories include Improving Health and Wellbeing, Improving the Patient Experience (including safety, dignity and respect), Unsung Hero, and Volunteer of the Year.
Last year's winners and nominees came from a range of disciplines, representing the huge field of careers available in the NHS and the contribution they all make to delivering patient care and saving lives.
Health Shield, a UK leading provider of health cash plans and a non-profit making friendly society, are the major sponsor for the Best of Health Staff Awards for a second time. Jonathan Burton, Health Shield Chief Executive said: “Health Shield is delighted to be sponsoring the Hywel Dda University Health Board’s Best of Staff Awards for the second year running. The awards last year were such a big success and we are sure they are set to be another key event in the calendar.
“It is a great event – one which celebrates the delivery of quality health services across the region whilst recognising outstanding individual contributions. We wish everyone the best of luck in making the shortlist.”
Director of Workforce and Organisational Development Lisa Gostling said: “This is a great opportunity for members of the public, as well as our own staff, to nominate people for their contribution to delivering excellent patient care.
“I am delighted to welcome Health Shield on board again this year and thanks to them we will be able to host an awards ceremony to celebrate our stars of local health.”
The closing date for entries is Wednesday 5 November 2014 (12.00 noon) and the winners will be announced at a special ceremony in January 2015.
Entries will be judged by a panel which will include Executive Directors, Independent Board Members and representatives of the Hywel Dda Community Health Council and this year’s major sponsor, Health Shield Friendly Society Ltd.
