Special celebration for Côr Lleisiau’r Cwm ladies choir

There was a very special celebration for the Amman Valley-based Côr Lleisiau’r Cwm at the weekend.
The ladies choir celebrated their 20th anniversary with a gala dinner dance at the Stradey Park Hotel, Llanelli.
Côr Lleisiau’r Cwm have an enviable reputation for charity work and the proceeds of Saturday’s event were donated to the Kidney Organisation Wales.
The final total for the evening is still being counted, but an auction raised £800 for the charity.
Auction items included the shoes worn by Catatonia singer Cerys Matthews in the music video of Road Rage, a signed Wales rugby shirt and a signed Swansea City jersey.
The evening kicked off with a superb set by Cantata, one of three choirs under the baton of the gifted Côr Lleisiau’r Cwm musical director Catrin Hughes.
Chilli Con Carne turned up the heat on the evening before Cantata closed their set with a stunning rendition of the Adele/James Bond hit Skyfall, featuring soloist Nia Rees.
The evening was hosted by Heddyr Gregory and also featured a guest appearance by Scarlets forward Aaron Shingler.
Entertainment was provided by the always-energetic Fat Barry’s Soul Band.
Choir president Glynog Davies was unable to attend due to a wedding invitation, but sent a video message of congratulations to the choristers.

Côr Lleisiau’r Cwm will be performing between 11 and 12 on Sunday, February 28 as part of the National Botanic Garden of Wales St David’s Day celebrations.
