Fun days mark launch of new Llanelli WI branch

A two-day family fun extravaganza is taking place at Llanelli Library to mark the launch of a new Women’s Institute branch.
The event will take place on Thursday, September 20, and Friday, September 21, from 10am to 8pm.
A wide range of activities include wax painting, flower arranging, jewellery making, knitting and cupcake making demonstrations.
There will also be demonstrations on e-books, the Heritage 6 project and ancestory.com.
Life-sized characters Gari Gosafe, Superbook, Dylan the Dragon and Eco Ellie will entertain children, and there will be a treasure hunt around the library.
Fairtrade products will provide the refreshments, and a competition will be run with a number of prizes up for grabs.
The event is to launch the Women’s Institute group which is being set up at Llanelli Library as part of their ‘Love your Libraries’ campaign.
The idea, promoted by County Councillor Mair Stephens, aims to encourage the development of a new WI group within the newly refurbished library building, making use of the vast resources to aid the work and activities of WI members and at the same time promote the library.
Library Services Manager Mark Jewell said: “We’re delighted to welcome the new WI group to Llanelli Library and look forward to the launch event, which will have something to entertain and interest the whole family.”
