Big clean-up for Penymorfa Park

Young people in Llanelli will be showing what ‘Youth Action’ really stands for with the clean-up of Penymorfa Park.
The graffiti park in Penymorfa, which was completed as part of the splash and play initiative, has been destroyed and vandalised with white paint. The park has become subject to littering and is in need of revitalisation.
Communities First will work alongside the SMART project in a multi-partnership initiative and highlights what can be achieved when you work together.
The event will run over a course of two days, with the initial clean up taking place on February 2. As an appreciation of young people’s hard work and dedication to the project, on February 3 they will have the opportunity to paint their own graffiti on one side of the wall.
Communities First Development Worker Kelly Wood said: “This is about encouraging young people to speak up about the issues that they face and taking action to tackle those issues. It is also about ownership, these young people’s work will be present for the whole community to appreciate.
“It is hoped as a result of the project that the awareness of the effects of vandalism will be raised.”
If community members would like to participate in the project please contact the Communities First Office on 01554 777850.
