The latest 'On Song' column about the choral scene in and around Llanelli from the Llanelli Star - 

It was a big week for members of Côr Meibion Dyffryn Tywi as they completed a tour of the Isle of Wight under the baton of musical director Davinia Davies.
One of the highlights was singing at Holy Trinity Church, Bembridge, in a special tribute to the late Cliff Morgan, the former Wales rugby icon and TV and radio commentator and personality.
The tour ended with a grand concert at a packed St Saviour’s Church in Shanklin, with the choir performing alongside Newchurch Male Choir from the Isle of Wight.
Very popular ladies choir Côr Lleisiau'r Cwm, under the baton of Catrin Hughes, will perform at a special gala concert in Llanelli this Saturday.
The ladies will be performing alongside the famous Pendyrus Male Choir to Llanelli.
The charity concert is being staged at Greenfield Chapel, Llanelli, on Saturday, May3 at 7pm.
Proceeds from the evening, which is being staged by Cerith Owens and Loud Applause Productions, will be in aid of the Llanelli and District League of Hospital Friends appeal for a new ultrasound machine to diagnose prostate cancer at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli.
The Pendyrus Male Choir will be joined on stage by up-and-coming young tenor Samuel Morris.
Samuel was one of the featured artists at a concert in Pontyberem last weekend to raise funds for the Carmarthenshire WI stall at Eisteddfod Sir Gar.
The Minister of Greenfield Chapel, Rev David Jones, will be the compere for the evening.
The evening will also feature organ solos by Llanelli-based accompanist Andrew Pike.
Popular Llanelli ladies choir Côr Curiad will be performing at a Gala Concert being organised by the Llanelli Masonic Festival Committee at Ffwrnes Theatre on Saturday, July 19.
The evening will be compered by the hilarious TV comedian Owen Money and will also feature the award winning Burry Port Town Brass Band and the renowned National Eisteddfod winning soloist tenor Richard Allen.
Meanwhile, Llanelli Rotary Club will be staging a First World War Centenary Concert in September.
The concert will be held on Saturday, September 6 at Greenfield Baptist Chapel and will be held in conjunction with the Royal British Legion.
The concert will feature Côr Meibion Llanelli, the 215 City of Swansea Squadron Royal Air Force Cadets Corps of Drums and rising singing star Samuel Morris.
The evening will include readings by Monro Walters and Robert Lloyd.
The concert will close with a ‘Tribute to the Fallen’.
Congratulations to Llangennech Primary School Choir on reaching the finals of Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year competition.
Well done Daniella Difede, a member of the Llanelli Rising Stars team, on excellent performances in the Performance Factory Stage School's production of High School Musical, at Swansea Grand Theatre.
