New ‘hip and knee’ surgeon appointed in Pembrokeshire

A new Consultant Trauma and Orthopeadic Surgeon has been recruited at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest.
Dylan Jewell (MB BS, BSc, MSc, MRCSEd, MRCS, FRCS (Tr & Orth)), who has a special interest in Lower Limb and Arthroplasy (joint replacement), will start his role at Withybush Hospital early next year.
Mr Jewell graduated from United Medical and Dental School of Guy's and St Thomas's Hospital in 1998 before completing Specialist Registrar Training on West Midlands Higher Training in Orthopaedics, and is now completing a Knee Fellowship in Derby Hospital.
He has a BSc in Radiological Services where he was introduced to navigated surgery and completed a Clinical Manager Leadership Course at Keele University. He also spent 13 months in Regional Trauma Centre Queen Elizabeth Hospital Selly Oak to gain experience in complex trauma from A & E to discharge.
Hospital Director Iain Robertson-Steel said: “Whatever the outcome of the current Your Health Your Future Consulting Our Communities, Withybush Hospital will still be carrying out routine hip and knee surgery.
“Mr Jewell will be a great asset to the Trauma and Orthopaedic Services in Hywel Dda Health Board and a key member of the Withybush Hospital team.”
