Power of song works for Healing The Wounds

Image
It was a night when the power of song lifted spirits – and raised nearly £700 for the Healing The Wounds charity which helps treat victims of PTSD, post traumatic stress disorder. The 'Stars in their Eyes' event at Cefneithin RFC rugby club featured the Cross Hands choir of Only Boys Aloud. The event raised a whopping £667.80. The Only Boys Aloud singers served up a treat with their own version of the classic ‘Sosban Fach’ and a varied repertoire of other songs. The choir was conducted by Craig Yates from Only Men Aloud. He revealed that Only Men Aloud had recently finished recording their Christmas album. Healing The Wounds charity secretary Carol Richards thoroughly enjoyed the evening and said: “We would like to thank Jason Mills and his colleagues at Cefneithin RFC for the warm welcome received on the night and for the opportunity to raise much-needed awareness for the charity.” For more information, email chairman@cefneithinrfc.co.uk Weblinks – http://healingthewounds.co.u...

Birthday party helps Welsh charity

Maesteg pensioner Beryl Perdaens had a simple birthday wish - to raise money for Healing The Wounds, the Welsh charity which helps treat victims of post traumatic stress disorder. And her wish came true when friends and family rallied around to raise more than £500 for her chosen charity. Mrs Perdaens, from Nantyfyllon, celebrated her 80th birthday with an evening for family and friends at Celtic Rugby Football Club in Maesteg. A delicious buffet was laid on for guests, who were also entertained by a local female vocalist. Healing The Wounds charity secretary Carol Richards explained:"Mrs Perdaens had recently heard that we were treating Welsh Veterans of the Armed Forces for post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and she decided that she wanted to help in some way. "Her idea was to ask her guests to donate money to the charity instead of buying her gifts to celebrate this important milestone in her life. It was a wonderful gesture by the 80-year-old and raised a mass...

It's art - for charity's sake!

It won’t be art for art’s sake in Ammanford next month; it will be art for charity’s sake. A charity art auction is being held at Saron Hall, Ammanford, on Sunday, April 10, in aid of the Healing The Wounds charity. The charity helps treat sufferers of PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) in Wales. More than 60 ‘lots’ have already been kindly donated by local artists. “The response has been amazing,” said Healing The Wounds co-founder and secretary Carol Richards. “But we are still looking for some more works of art for the auction to raise as much as we possibly can on the day. “Richard Chinnery is the organiser of the art group in Saron Hall and he has been instrumental in helping to put the event together. “In addition, we have popular auctioneer John Eirian Davies from BJP in Carmarthen giving his services for free for the day. “It should be a great day out for lovers of local art. And the local Women’s Institute will be on hand to serve refreshments. Doors open at 12 noon for 2pm...
