Tycroes bus depot workers raise charity cash
An energetic team of 17 employees from First Cymru’s Tycroes bus depot completed a sponsored walk in aid of the Healing The Wounds charity.
The charity works to fund treatment of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) in Wales.
The walk covered approximately 40 miles from Ammanford Bus Station to the Gelli Aur Mansion near Llandeilo.
The team raised more than £1,000 for the charity and this amount was-match funded by the charity and sponsorship committee of the First Group, the parent company of First Cymru.
A spokesman for First Cymru said: “We hope that the charity can put the money to good use, supporting as many people as possible.”
A cheque for £2119.50 was presented to Carol Richards, co-founder and secretary for Healing The Wounds.
She said: “We would like to offer our sincere thanks to everyone involved at First Cymru and the Tycroes bus depot for raising these funds to enable the charity to offer crucial treatment to these most deserving members and veterans of our Armed Forces, who in the course of doing their duty are suffering from PTSD.”
Tony Mc Niff, managing director of First Cymru added: “I am delighted that we have been able to support this worthwhile Welsh charity.
“Within the Tycroes depot are three ex-servicemen, so there is a great affinity with this particular cause. The local team did a tremendous job organising the sponsored walk and I'm pleased that they raised so much as a result and that our parent company, First Group, was able to match it. It’s great news all round.”
