Planning given for poultry farms
Carmarthenshire councillors have approved plans for two poultry farms in the county.
The county council received separate applications to develop a poultry unit at Llys y Nant Farm, Llanfynydd, and to build a 12,000-bird free range egg production unit at Abercrychan Farm, Llandovery.
The planning committee discussed the applications yesterday afternoon after earlier visiting both sites and a poultry farm already operating near Llandrindod.
The application by Terry Davies for Llys y Nant Farm was for a free range unit for up to 16,000 laying hens with holes to allow the hens to come and go.
The application by John and Josephine Hardwick of Abercrychan Farm was for a unit for 12,000 laying hens as well as processing and packing of eggs via a conveyor belt system.
