Children in the swim in Carmarthen

Children can have a splashing time learning to swim at Carmarthen Leisure Centre.
The county council facility is now accepting children aged four and over on to the Aqua Sir Gâr Learn to Swim programme.
Since the opening of the new pool in 2008, waiting lists for the programme have been eliminated, and more children than ever have been able to enjoy learning to swim.
All the teaching programmes follow the ASA National Teaching Plan for Swimming, a nationally recognised awards scheme for developing children into excellent swimmers.
The programme teaches water confidence and aquatic skills from an early age, which enables the swimmer to participate in a variety of different aquatic disciplines at a later stage in their development.
Leisure executive board member Cllr Clive Scourfield said: “Aqua Sir Gâr’s Learn to Swim programme is the best possible way for children to learn to swim.
“Our programme is fun and progressive. As children move from stage to stage and become more confident, the skills become more challenging and they are introduced to new skills as they become better.”
Contact Carmarthen leisure centre on 01267 224700 to enrol a child on to the programme or for further information.
