Carmarthenshire firm plans new HQ

One of Carmarthenshire’s most dynamic businesses is planning a move to a new headquarters in Carmarthen.
EMC Services, the electrical contractors firm currently based in Llanarthne in the Towy Valley, has been given planning permission for a new two-storey HQ in Heol Glasdwr in Parc Pensarn.
“This represents a significant move for us in what will soon be our 10th year in business,” said EMC director Neil Alexander
“The move has been made possible by a grant from the Welsh Assembly Government’s Single Investment Fund which is helping to safeguard current jobs and hopefully create new jobs. The move will make us a more efficient company and help reinforce our professional image.
“We were successful last year in receiving a prestigious international quality award, the landmark ISO certificate, a quality management award which recognised the firm’s commitment to ‘an exceptional quality of service’.
“That was a real feather in the cap of what is a growing business,” said Mr Alexander.
“Now we are building on that with a move to new premises.
“The project is going to cost nearly £650,000 and support from the Assembly Government means that we will be building the new headquarters to the highest environmental standards, conforming to the new BREEAM environmental assessment, so the end result will be a building which reflects the aims and ambitions of an aspiring company such as EMC.”
Mr Alexander, 41, added: “We currently have a staff of 30 and I am sure they will be delighted with the new HQ, which we expect to be completed before the end of this year.
“We have been at our current premises in Llanarthne for eight years and we have easily outgrown them. The new HQ has good road links and occupies a high profile site in what is rapidly becoming an important new development area in Carmarthen.”
EMC Services has a an extensive portfolio in the electrical field offering services spanning domestic, industrial, commercial, maintenance, street lighting, portable testing, installation testing, emergency lighting and fire alarms.
The firm also offers design and build services, contract management, project supervision and service contracts.
