Big name HPC contract winner to be announced

The name of the winner of the contract to run the massive HPC Wales supercomputer project will be announced on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.
A competitive tendering process has produced a winner - a giant on the global technology stage.
And the name will be revealed at a high-profile award of contract announcement to be staged at The Pierhead building in Cardiff Bay.
The announcement will feature speeches by Ieuan Wyn Jones, Welsh Assembly Minister for the Economy and Transport, Lesley Griffiths, Deputy Minister for Science, Innovation and Skills with the Welsh Assembly Government, and Professor Noel Lloyd, chair of Higher Education Wales and vice-chancellor of Aberystwyth University.
The event will also feature VIPs from the contract winners.
"The HPC Wales project was actually launched last July," said a spokesman for HPC Wales.
"Since then, things have been moving very quickly to the point where funds are now in place and the winner of the contract can now be revealed.
"We are confident that the announcement of the contract winner will be a significant event for Wales.
"There will be headline-grabbing announcements and the event is sure to attract widespread media attention."
