Reds under-18s in semi-final

The Reds Under 18s steamed into the semi-finals of the South Wales FA Youth League Cup with a superb performance at Bridgend Town on Sunday afternoon.
On a Newbridge Fields pitch that resembled a quagmire for most of the game, the Reds played neat and controlled football that their more physical opponents couldn’t cope with.
As the rain belted down, the Reds created a number of chances in the first period and Ben Williams and Gethin Davies both beat the home keeper only for their shots to stick in the mud and not cross the line!
After a half time talk from coach Andrew Beckett, the Reds started the second period in a positive mood and they finally took the lead when Joe Lloyd beat the keeper with a lob from fully thirty yards out after 54 minutes.
Ten minutes later, substitute, Kristian Corbisiero, made it 2 0 when he scored with a super strike.
Ben Williams, who had moved from Centre Forward to Centre Half, scored the Reds third goal when he scored from an acute angle 12 yards out in the 70th minute.
Corbisiero then got his second goal of the game when he outstripped the Bridgend defence and rounded the keeper before nonchalantly slotting the ball home after 78 minutes.
Jordan Martin completed the scoring seven minutes later when he beat the keeper with a firm drive from just inside the penalty area.
The Reds Under 18s now reach the semi-final of the cup in their first season playing in the competition.
