Rodents shut school kitchen

Maes yr Yrfa school kitchen in Cefneithin is being temporarily closed until Wednesday following treatment for a rodent problem.
Carmarthenshire’s catering service shut the facility for two days last week while investigations were carried out into a possible rodent problem.
The problem has now been controlled and the kitchen has been pest proofed and is likely to reopen fully on Wednesday after thorough sanitization and disinfection.
In the meantime, pupils who are entitled to free school meals will be provided with packed lunches prepared at a nearby school. All other pupils are being advised to bring their own packed lunches.
Letters are being sent to parents advising them of the temporary closure.
