Pembrokeshire players turn out for Wales
Six Pembrokeshire hockey players turned out for Wales.
Stacey John from Milford Haven and Ceri Jenkins and Sophie Rees form Haverfordwest travelled to Glasgow to play three Under-18 Test matches against Scotland.
Meanwhile, Under-16 players Hannah Lewis from Tenby and Charlotte Harries and Chloe Sinnott from Fishguard and Goodwick travelled to Wrexham for their three matches against Scotland.
The under-18s won one, drew one and lost one, while the under-16s lost their matches.
The girls were picked to play for Wales after initially taking part in a Pembrokeshire performance development centre last autumn. From the centre 11 girls were chosen for the Regional Hockey Academy in Swansea.
After weeks of intense training at the Academy six were then selected to represent Wales in the test matches this Easter.
Angela Miles, hockey development officer for Sport Pembrokeshire -Pembrokeshire County Council's sports development arm - said she was delighted at their success.
"They've put in a lot of effort and trained really hard for this. I'm really pleased for them," she said. "I'm also grateful to all the school and club coaches - as well as volunteer coaches - for their coaching."
Schools and clubs are reminded that nominations for the Under 14 performance development centre need to be in as soon as possible as it will start at Sir Thomas Picton Astroturf pitch on 10th May.
