Ammanford man fined for dog mess

A man has been fined £75 for failing to clean up after his dog in the Myddynfych area of Bonllwyn, Ammanford.
Council environmental enforcement officers were on patrol in the area and issued the man with a fixed penalty notice.
Failure to pay could lead to prosecution in the magistrates court where the maximum penalty that can be imposed is £1,000.
Enforcement officers regularly carry out patrols across the county and irresponsible dog owners are being warned to clean up or pay up.
The council’s Head of Street Scene David Hughes said: “Dog faeces left anywhere is a serious health risk and although the majority of residents take their responsibilities seriously, there is still a small minority who do not listen.
“Those caught flouting the law will be prosecuted. The council is determined to stop the problem of dog fouling in Carmarthenshire and improve the environment for both residents and visitors.”
The public are being asked to help identify those responsible. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Carmarthenshire Direct on 01267 234567.
