Lesley Garrett will join forces with the Llanelli Choral Society for their prestigious annual concert “From Bach to Broadway and Beyond” which will feature Lesley Garrett, the Llanelli Choral Society and the Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers – all under the direction of founder John Hywel Williams MBE.
Sponsored by Jenkins Bakery, the grand performance at Ffwrnes theatre will feature an exciting and diverse programme with great choral works from the Llanelli Choral Society from the world of Baroque, highlights from world opera, and momentous moments from Hollywood, Broadway and the Americas.
The Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers will perform a beautiful balanced programme spanning sacred moments including Pie Jesu and Panis Angelicus, Strauss’ Tritsch-Tratsch Polka and movie magic from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Sound of Music.
The highlight of the evening will be welcoming the wonderful personality and voice of Lesley Garrett to the stage where audiences will enjoy a fun and diverse magic range of songs, culminating in an exciting finale of Climb Ev’ry Mountain with the Hywel Choir and You’ll Never Walk Alone with the Llanelli Choral Society.
The evening will enjoy the skilled support of pianist Jean Hywel, organist Huw Tregelles Williams, resident percussionist Gareth Hamlin and hosted by Jeremy Hywel Williams.
As Britain’s most popular soprano, Lesley Garrett regularly appears in opera in concert, on television and radio. Lesley has 14 solo CDs to her credit, many receiving silver and gold disc status. Lesley has enjoyed many television appearances including her own shows: “Lesley Garrett…Tonight”, “The Lesley Garrett Show”, “The Singer” and “Lesley Garrett – Desert Dreams” for the BBC.
“It is a pleasure to perform with Lesley”, explains conductor John Hywel Williams. “Her personality, her voice and her repertoire will make for a wonderful evening for both artists and audiences alike.
“We are excited to bring such a wonderful performance to our local audiences”, explains Chairman Monro Walters. “The beautiful voice of Lesley Garrett, the powerful choruses from the Llanelli Choral Society and the young magic of the Hywel Choristers all points to a magnificent evening.”
