Man fined £75 for dropping drinks can in Ammanford
A man has been fined £75 for dropping a drinks can in Wernddu Road in Ammanford.
Council environmental enforcement officers were on routine patrol in the area at the time.
He was issued with a fixed penalty notice for the offence. If he fails to pay it, he could be prosecuted in court where the maximum fine for littering is £2,500.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “Dropping litter is a criminal offence. It will not be tolerated and those caught will be fined.
“Keeping Carmarthenshire clean is a priority for the council and much work is underway to raise awareness amongst the public.”
Cllr Jones said he hoped this latest fine would act as a deterrent to others.
