Dream opportunities for young singers in Llanelli

If you’ve dreamed of performing to sell-out audiences, sharing the stage with international celebrities, singing at leading concert halls and to sing with nationally acclaimed orchestras – then this may be music to your ears!
The famous Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers are currently accepting new members for their exciting Autumn and Winter concert season.
Over coming months, choristers will perform with international singing stars such as Russell Watson and Lesley Garrett, give repeated performances at St. David’s Hall Cardiff, star in the Wales Festival of Remembrance, enjoy TV appearances and perform with the leading British Sinfonietta Orchestra.
“It is a pleasure to open the choir’s doors to new choristers to join our current 70-strong ranks”, explained the choir’s London-based Director of Development, Jeremy Hywel Williams. “The teaching, the experiences and opportunities are life unique and can be positively life changing for many.”
The opportunity to join is open to all children between the age of 7 and 16 years old from the South Wales region. There are no musical requirements to join just the willingness to learn and the love of singing.
Many Hywel choristers over the years have gone onto enjoy successful singing and performing careers either in television, opera or even winning the Eurovision Song Contest!
Current choristers have a list of exciting experiences ahead of them.
In October, the choristers will be joining Lesley Garrett onstage with the Llanelli Choral Society while November will see the choir perform with Russell Watson at S. David’s Hall Cardiff starring in the Wales Festival of Remembrance.
November will also see the choir and its founder feature in an ITV documentary about Eurovision and the Eurovision winners Brotherhood of Man.
December will see the choir return again to the magnificent St. David’s Hall Cardiff and also present their ever-popular Christmas spectacular “Christmas Fantasia” which will see the Hywel Choristers team up with the acclaimed British Sinfonietta Orchestra, Pontarddulais Male Choir and Llanelli Choral Society for a spectacular night of Christmas and magical music. In the new year, the choristers will join up with singing group BLAKE for a unique joint performance.
