Nantgaredig house wins approval

Carmarthnshire councillors have approved plans for a house in the countryside at Nantgaredig under local needs.
Yesterday’s meeting of the planning committee discussed an outline application for a house in a field near a row of houses at Tanybanc between Nantgaredig and Felingwm Isaf.
An officers’ report said: “The application is submitted as a local needs dwelling to support a local worker linked to agriculture and his young family.
“Evidence of available houses in the area along with their prices has been submitted with the application, along with details of the mortgage the applicant could realistically achieve based on the income of his business. It is clear that there is a large discrepancy between the money available and the much higher cost of dwellings in the area.
“As a result this application has been submitted on land already owned by the applicant under the Local Needs Policy.”
The applicant will have to sign a Section 106 agreement to keep the house as affordable housing for any subsequent buyers.
