Carmarthenshire bus company fined
A bus company has been prosecuted and fined £3,000 for building a commercial bus repair/service facility without Building Regulations.
Davies Coaches pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates Court to the offence which related to development at the former Cwmgwili Colliery site.
The prosecution was brought by Carmarthenshire County Council under sections 12, 14 and 15 of the Building Regulations 2000.
The owner failed to make an application or notify the local authority of his intentions, failed to make a Full Plans Building Regulations Application and failed to notify the local authority building control department of statutory inspections required during the construction process and at completion of the works.
The owners Davies Coaches Ltd were ordered to pay the courts £1,000 for each offence which totalled £3,000 together with costs of £336.
Executive board member for regeneration and leisure Cllr Clive Scourfield said: “It is important that Building Regulations are applied for and the correct procedures are followed as Building Regulations provides the community with health and safety in and around buildings.
”The local authority building control department now hopes that it will act as a deterrent to others who feel they can build structures without Building Regulations.”
