Grass fire on Gower destroys 11 hectares of land

Firefighters from Reynoldston Fire Station have attended a gorse fire on cliffs at Overton, on the Gower Peninsula, that started in the early hours of Friday 25 May and destroyed approximately 11 hectares of important wildlife habitat.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service were first called to Overton at 12:35pm where a gorse fire was reported to have been spreading along the cliffs towards Rhosilli. Both the fire appliance and 4x4 Landrover from Reynoldston Fire Station were mobilised to the scene. Fire Service personnel remained at the scene until the fire was fully extinguished at approximately 2pm.
