Celtic Couriers is on the starting blocks for the Olympics

Celtic Couriers Ltd, the go-ahead delivery firm based in Burry Port, is on the starting blocks and ready for the launch of the 2012 London Olympics.
Together with APC Overnight, Celtic Couriers is getting ready to cope with the logistical challenges posed by the Games.
“Preparation is everything and we have been planning for the Olympics for some time,” said Celtic Couriers general manager Gareth Jenkins.
“At the heart of our Olympic mission is making sure that our customers continue to receive the high quality delivery services they have come to expect.”
The games are the largest sporting event ever staged in the UK and have been hailed by Peter Hendy, London’s Transport Commissioner, as “Britain’s largest peacetime logistical exercise”.
The expected number of spectators alone is estimated at nine million plus. This is in addition to all the athletes and officials. The Games will have a tremendous impact on all businesses - not only in central London, but also other parts of the UK where events are taking place.
With the changes to routes, road closures and additional vehicle security there will inevitably be disruptions and obstacles to overcome.
APC Overnight has been working very closely with the Olympic Working Party for a number of months to ensure that the disruption is kept to a minimum, in the run up to and during the weeks of the Games.
There will be additional vehicles operating within the severely impacted areas to maintain APC Overnight’s high service levels.
A spokesman for the APC Overnight network (which includes Celtic Couriers) said: “Despite this, there may be circumstances beyond our control where deliveries and collections may be affected.
“The Olympic Sponsor will be responsible for the ‘FinaI Mile’ delivery of packages to the main stadium and other associated venues and will be imposing a surcharge. Please note no additional charges will be applied on top of this surcharge by Celtic Couriers Ltd or APC Overnight.
“Due to all packages being routed through accredited security screenings, delays are inevitable and in some cases may result in a delay. During the period of London 2012 credit requests for non-delivery or late delivery consignments in affected areas cannot be considered.
“Please be absolutely confident that Celtic Couriers Limited and APC Overnight will provide its very best endeavours throughout this challenging period. We will continue to keep customers informed of any updated information as this is made available to us.
