'Funtastic Friday' at Botanic Gardens 'best ever'

A Funtastic Friday family event held in the Botanic Gardens over half term has been hailed the ‘best ever’.
Organised by Action for Children and supported by Carmarthenshire County Council, the event aimed to promote the various family services available across the county.
Following the Hallowe’en theme, a pumpkin carving contest was a big focal point on the day, but there was also many other activities, including a competition for children to design a ‘Bank of Wales’ £100 note with the event’s sponsor Barclays Money Skills.
Action for Children Parenting Project Worker Paul Andrews said: “We have held the event before, but we have had feedback from parents and families who said that this was the best one yet.
“As well as all those who came along, or represented the various organisations on the day, we’d like to thank the Co-op in Cross Hands who came to our rescue at the last minute and donated over 100 pumpkins just before the event was due to start – they saved the day!”
