Evan-Evans brewery bucks the trend

The award winning Evan-Evans brewery in West Wales has had one of its best weeks ever, with increasing sales across all its trading areas.
The news comes despite the poor summer weather and a drop in tourist numbers in Wales.
Bucking the trend of doom and gloom in the brewing industry, the company has seen significant growth in all the key areas of trade, increasing volumes, and distribution throughout Wales.
Chief executive Simon Buckley said: “Evan-Evans has focussed over the last few years on producing high-quality cask-conditioned beer, with broad market appeal. Our beers have an increasing consumer following, and are priced to be extremely competitive.
“We are now reaping the benefits of our hard work, and with the continued increase in demand for our products the brewery is running at near capacity levels.
“Last week, the company’s pubs were extremely busy, which has continued the trend that started earlier in the year. The consumer is looking for high-quality environments in which to enjoy well-cooked food at affordable prices, with the accent firmly on food with local provenance.
“We are extremely pleased with progress and hope shortly to add to the pub estate here in Wales.
“In September, we will be launching our new Archers brands for the English market, and feel sure that they will replicate the company’s success across the border in London and the South West.
“Inevitably we have to work harder than ever before to maintain and expand market share, but there is little doubt that our quality message both in terms of the beer we brew, and the pubs we operate, is a winning formula.
“This year we have been voted the third best brewer in the world, and our flagship pub ,The Cricketers in Cardiff, has been voted the best food pub in Wales and shortlisted for the top UK prize. This is the recognition my team deserves, and I am very proud of their achievements.”
