New sensory garden opened in Ammanford

Summer came just in time for children of an Ammanford children’s centre to enjoy their new sensory garden.
The garden at Blaenau Children’s Centre was completed recently, and was opened by special guest – Llanelli, Wales and British Lions legend Roy Bergiers.
The new garden includes a wheelchair accessible swing, a multi-access climbing frame with slide, trampoline, a sit on and ride donkey, ‘mushroom’ seats, willow arbour, musical chimes and tunnels.
It also has an integrated road within the safety floor as well as four specially commissioned seasonal art panels.
Centre manager Victoria Griffiths said: “This superb addition to the centre was achieved following a five year funding campaign which raised nearly £70,000 - mostly by the Friends of Blaenau parents group but we also secured around £18,000 through a Cwm Environmental project called Grantscape.
“We would like to thank everyone for their support throughout the entire journey, especially the parents group, as well as staff, the children, friends and families who have all contributed to this worthwhile project.”
