Mini-football success at Carmarthen

The mini-football match staged at Richmond Park, Carmarthen, was a big success last Friday night.
I am grateful to Phil Grice, pictured above with the two teams, for the following match report -

Johnstown Primary 0 Ysgol y Dderwen 0
Spectators at last Friday's Carmarthen Town home Premiership match against Port Talbot were treated to a first class half-time game of mini-football by these two talented school teams.
Johnstown had the best of the first half almost scoring when Sion Price, flashing through the Dderwen defence was clattered down in a clumsy tackle.
This might well have been a red card in the main match, but in true mini-football tradition the referee played the advantage and Dderwen's goalkeeper Thomas Jones pulled off a fine save, to deny Johnstown.
Ysgol y Dderwen came into their own in the second half with a flurry of shots which saw Johnstown's goalkeeper Sion Copper pull off some fine saves.
But these were two very even teams and a drawn match was a fair if inevitable result on the night.
The next half-time mini-football match planned will be at the Carmarthen Town/Neath evening game on Friday 7 January, between Ysgol Peniel and Richmond Park School.
