Lord Robertson on 'turbo-charged power'

Lord Robertson of Port Ellen, former Secretary General of NATO and Defence Secretary during the first Blair government, spoke about the challenges of "turbo-charged power" when he delivered the 7th Annual Lecture of the Centre for Intelligence and International Security Studies at Aberystwyth University tonight.
The title of Lord Robertson’s lecture was ‘Security, Policy-makers and Intelligence’.
He said politicians at the sharp end of making decisions on intelligence had a massive task.
Lord Roberston said:"They have to weigh up the assessments, measure the caveats, discount the wordsmithing, think of the ‘general public’, its safety and security and come to a judgement.
"Do something or do nothing.
"Get it right and you are briefly a hero.
"Get it wrong and the caveats will string you out to dry.
"That’s what turbo-charged power is all about."
