Public seminar looks at Welsh Language Commissioner role
The Institute of Welsh Politics at Aberystwyth University is delighted to announce that Professor Diarmait Mac Giolla Chriost, from Cardiff University will present its next public seminar on Tuesday 21 April 2015.
Entitiled ‘Comisiynydd y Gymraeg: rheoleiddio, rhyddid a risg’, the seminar will analyse the Welsh Language Commissioner’s work and takes place at 6pm in the Department of International Politics.
Professor Diarmait Mac Giolla Chríost is a member of the Research Unit on Language, Policy and Planning in the School of Welsh at Cardiff University. He is a native of Ireland and an authority on linguistic minorities and language planning. He has research interests in certain other specific fields, including the nature of the relationship between language and conflict, from a comparative, European perspective, and, also, language in city contexts.
He has a number of publications in the Social Sciences, Human Geography and the Sociology of Language. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
This is a Welsh-medium event with simultaneous translation facilities available.
