New plan for general health needs in Kidwelly

People in Kidwelly and surrounding areas will have their general health needs met by six GPs working from the town’s surgery, Meddgyfa Minafon, and satellite sites in Ferryside and Trimsaran.
Hywel Dda University Health Board (UHB) is now supporting the team as a managed practice following the retirement of one of the senior partners Dr J Dundrow and departure of Dr Hartwell.
Two of the other former partners, Dr A Al-Abdullah and Dr M Muthuvairavan, have been recruited by the UHB; as well as a former salaried GP Dr S Markham; and two locum GPs Dr K Bathini and Dr R Chumroo, who were already working in the practice.
In addition, and an experienced GP who previously worked at Aman Tawe Partnership in Cwmllynfell, Dr L Bernard, has also been recruited, with the six doctors working hours as five full time equivalents.
This has ensured a full team and a mix of male and female doctors to serve the area. Other practice staff continue to work at the practice as part of the arrangements.
Elaine Lorton, Assistant Director of Primary Care, said: “We are delighted with the appointments, which have enabled us to retain and attract high quality GPs, in turn securing the service and providing continuity of care for patients in this area. We would like to thank Dr Dundrow and Dr Hartwell for their hard work and dedication during their time working GP’s at Meddgyfa Minafon and we wish them both every happiness for the future.”
Patients registered at the surgery will continue to access services in the usual way, and each household will receive a letter confirming these arrangements shortly.

If patients require any further information, they can speak to the practice manager or their doctor, or write to Anne Jenkins, Primary Care Locality Development Manager, Parc Amanwy, Business Resource Centre, Ammanford SA18 3EZ.
