A frightened teenager swam to shore in Burry Port while her sister had to be rescued after getting cut off by the tide.
The girl and her sister had been walking to the west of Burry Port Lighthouse on Sunday when the incident occurred.
RNLI operation manager Roger Bowen said the girl was unaware of the distance when she set off in he water.
He said: “They had been cut off on the sand bank and she swam to shore. She managed to get herself back home. But she was very cold and frightened.”
