Also, women from Pembrokeshire requiring additional care during pregnancy, labour or birth will be advised to give birth in the Consultant Led Unit at Glangwili Hospital.
Bernardine Rees, Chair of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “I am aware of the personal contribution each member of midwifery, nursing and medical staff have made to the women and children of Pembrokeshire over the years. I understand the pride and commitment you feel as part of that team and I also understand the difficulty some of you feel emotionally with the changes that have taken place.
“I want to pass on my heartfelt thanks to you all for your professionalism and dedication which I know will continue to support the mums and babies of Pembrokeshire over the coming years.
“I also would commend the Carmarthenshire team in the same way who while it may appear have not such radical change, will have to adapt to new ways of working. I am sure you will all now put your dedication and energy into creating a service of excellence that support the women and children of Hywel Dda.”
Over the past few months many members of staff from numerous different teams have come together to ensure everything was in place to safely change these services. The university health board would like to recognise all who have played their part and in would like to highlight the estates and hotel services teams in particular for their dedication and hard work under pressure.
