Porthyrhyd man fined for dog mess offence

A Porthyrhyd man has been fined for failing to clean up after his dog.
He was issued with a fixed penalty notice for £75 by the council’s environmental enforcement officers.
Failure to pay could result in prosecution in the magistrates court and a maximum fine of £1,000.
The council has received a number of complaints about dog fouling in the Porthyrhyd/Llanddarog area and patrols are being stepped up.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “Dog fouling is a top priority for the council and we will not hesitate to prosecute those caught breaking the law in this way.
“Our enforcement officers carry out patrols across the county and we are asking the public to help us catch those responsible by reporting offenders as part of our ‘Dog Watch’ scheme.”
