Consultation on Carmarthenshire Development Plan
Residents of Carmarthenshire are being consulted on alternatives sites suggested by the public and interested parties for allocation for development in the Local Development Plan.
In the summer of 2011 a consultation was held on the content of the Carmarthenshire Deposit Local Development Plan (LDP). The LDP set out a strategy and policies that will shape how the county changes and develops in the period to 2021.
It allocates land for housing and employment purposes and indicates where these and other uses will be permitted, as well as designating areas worthy of protection.
The consultation provided an opportunity for members of the public and other interested parties to submit views and comments on all aspects of the Plan’s content including the uses proposed for sites within the Plan.
This also allowed people the chance to comment on the Plan and submit Alternative Sites. These included requests for the amendment or deletion of sites proposed in the Deposit LDP and the suggestion of new sites for a range of uses.
The Council is now publishing these Alternative Sites for consultation. This consultation will take place over a six week period starting next Wednesday (April 25) and ending at 4:30pm on Friday June 8.
Views are sought on the Alternative Sites and members of the public and interested parties are invited to send their comments in writing to the address below.
Forward Planning and Conservation Manager Jon Timothy said: “The publication of the alternative sites represents an important step in the preparation of the LDP. It gives everyone an opportunity to see what is being proposed for sites across the county and to make comments to help guide the final content of the Plan.”
The register of these Alternative Sites is available to view on the council’s website at www.carmarthenshire.gov.uk and for public inspection at all public libraries in the county, at the Council’s Customer Services Centres, and the Planning Offices.
A Representation Form to assist in submitting comments on the alternative sites is available to download from the Council’s website. Comments should be sent to the Forward Planning and Conservation Manager, Planning Services, 40 Spilman Street, Carmarthen SA31 1LQ or by e-mail to forward.planning@carmarthenshire.gov.uk. Please note the sites contained within the Alternative Sites Register are those submitted by respondents to the Deposit LDP and are not the council’s proposals.
