Christmas events in Carmarthen

The Christmas festivities will get underway in Carmarthen this weekend with two days packed full of seasonal entertainment.
The fun will start on Friday night, November 27th, with the annual Christmas fayre and switch-on of the town lights.
Radio Carmarthenshire will have a live music stage, and will be joined by a host of local entertainment acts.
Carmarthen Town Wind Band and Cor Seingar will also provide a musical backdrop to the carnival events, which will include a lantern parade, stilt walkers and street entertainers.
The event is a joint venture between Carmarthenshire County Council, Carmarthen Town Council and and Menter Gorllewin Sir Gar.
Day two of the festivities will take place on Saturday, November 28, with a reindeer parade and Sion Corn Grotto.
A parade of Sion Corn, his reindeer and elves will be joined by civic dignitaries, Cefn Fforest Jazz Band and street dancers through King Street and on to Nott Square for the first parade, before stopping for a rest at his grotto.
A second parade later in the day will take Sion Corn from Nott Square, through Guildhall Square and along Lammas Street and to Carmarthen Park.
A marquee will be set up at Guildhall Square where local schoolchildren will sing alongside other musical entertainment.
There will also be Christmas decoration-making workshops at St Peter's Civic Hall with Trysordy, and street artists at Greyfriars Shopping Centre.
Town Mayor, Cllr Ken Lloyd, who will perform the official switch-on of the town’s Christmas lights, said: “Carmarthen Town Council is delighted to be working on this joint venture with the county council, which is all about providing quality entertainment in the heart of Carmarthen for families of all ages to enjoy.
“We are all looking forward to the two days of events, which will ensure a fantastic start to the winter season with a feast of local talent to entertain the crowds.”
Cllr Clive Scourfield, Carmarthenshire County Council’s executive board member for regeneration and leisure, said: “Carmarthen Christmas Fayre is proving more popular each year, and we look forward to seeing families coming in to the town centre over the weekend to enjoy the festivities.”
