Felinfoel ready for Christmas switch-on

Felinfoel is gearing up for the switch-on of the community’s Christmas lights.
The event, on Friday, December 4, is being organised by the Felinfoel Events Committee, and supported by the local Communities First team.
There will be plenty of seasonal activities, including a Nativity procession and carol singing at the Mill Wheel, as well as a visit from Father Christmas.
Festivities kick off at 6pm.
Everyone is welcome, with free activities for children and free mince pies and refreshments at the Church Hall.
The nativity procession will start from the Felinfoel Family Centre. Those taking part are asked to meet at 5pm.
Communities First development officer Amy Wakefield said: “The events committee has done a fantastic job organising this Christmas event.
“We hope people will support the event, which is set to be a family occasion with plenty of festive spirit to get everyone in the mood.”
The Communities First programme is aimed at helping to regenerate the most deprived communities in Carmarthenshire.
The aim is to improve the living conditions and prospects for people in the wards and ensure that funding is targeted at the poorest areas.
The Felinfoel team is run by Carmarthenshire County Council, and a host of events and educational activities are staged in the area every year, along with specific regeneration programmes.
Regeneration Executive Board Member Cllr Clive Scourfield said: “This sounds like a wonderful community occasion and I hope it is well supported.”
