New 'tickets to ride' on north Carmarthenshire routes

Special weekly tickets are being trialled on some north Carmarthenshire bus services following feedback from passengers.
Bus services between Aberystwyth and Carmarthen were threatened when operators Arriva withdrew last year.
Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion councils, and Welsh Government, stepped in to takeover bus services 40 (Aberystwyth – Lampeter) and 40c (Lampeter – Carmarthen) just before Christmas.
Performance and feedback from users and non-users of the service has been analysed.
Carmarthenshire Executive Board Member for transport services, Cllr Colin Evans, said: “One recurring theme was the cost of weekly travel for regular commuters on the service.
“We listened to requests for lower fares and agreed to try a special weekly ticket for use just on the 40 and 40c services.”
Now the 40/40c weekly ticket will cost £21. It will be available for purchase on any day of operation of the service and will be valid for unlimited travel by the purchaser for seven calendar days including the day of purchase.
The tickets will be on sale from March 3.
They will be available to purchase on First Cymru and Lewis Coaches buses and can be used on both operator’s buses on the 40 and 40c routes as well.
Cllr Evans said it was another example how the councils and Welsh Government were working together with the public to deliver services in rural areas.
