New Council Leader congratulates top restaurant

Carmarthenshire's new Council Leader has congratulated Y Polyn restaurant after being named best in Wales.
Cllr Kevin Madge said he was delighted with the news that the restaurant near Nantgaredig won the title in the Good Food Readers’ Restaurant of the Year awards.
“Congratulations to Y Polyn on this wonderful achievement,” Cllr Madge said. “This kind of recognition is good for Carmarthenshire and champions local produce. Carmarthenshire has a reputation for producing high quality foods and this award demonstrates the importance placed on sourcing local products.”
Y Polyn beat off competition across Wales to win the award and will now be one of 10 regional winners in the UK. The overall winner will be named the Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year on June 20.
Cllr Madge added: “I wish Y Polyn the very best of luck for the UK final of this award, the restaurant is an excellent example of the best Carmarthenshire has to offer, and gaining this award helps to further promote the first class produce and services in our county.”
