First BBQ Week for Carmarthenshire
Celebrate the start of summer with Carmarthenshire’s first BBQ week and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Attend the launch event in Carmarthen the oldest town in Wales on June 2, enjoy barbecue demonstrations by Celebrity Chef BBQ Ben, first winner of Britain’s Best BBQ and regularly gives talks and demonstrations all over the country as President of the British BBQ Association. He writes regularly for the trade press and is a food writer for the Guardian and Sunday Times. His numerous television appearances include Daybreak, This Morning and Ready Steady Cook.
There will be a whole host of local chefs including Anthony Evans a qualified chef who presents his own cookery programme on Welsh TV, Ludovic Dieumegard - Ludo’s At The Coopers, Newcastle Emlyn (Semi-finalist on BBC Professional Masterchef) Head Chef from Plough Rhosmaen Llandeilo, and Elisabeth Luard an award-winning food writer – Author of ‘A cook’s Year in a Welsh Farmhouse.
There will be children’s entertainment, including face painters, Carmarthen fire engine and fire crew, local produce stalls, local live music from fiddlebox, pibau planed and Nick Turner plus a whole host of BBQ workshops. Lisa Fern from The Pumpkin Patch will be running children’s workshops. An affordable twist to barbeque food, which gets kids cooking and eating outdoors! Foods will include a great BBQ fry up with eggs and bacon, Flatbreads and steak, meatballs, beans and jackets.

1.00pm – Ranch Lunch
3.00pm – Camp Fire Supper
Like hot food? Come and try a delicious new BBQ sauce that has been made especially for BBQ Week. Why Not Hot are one of 6 local food producers that will be at the event. Other food producers include Cnwd, Cowpots Ice Cream, Taste of the Valleys, Cwmcrwth Farm and Jacobi Brewery.
Businesses are being supported and encouraged to take part in the event which will run from June 2 – 9, a week that includes a Bank Holiday Monday and the Queen’s Jubilee on the Tuesday.
People will be encouraged to enjoy the outdoors and support local businesses and food producers.
