Police force recognises Disabled Day

Dyfed Powys Police recognised International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Since 1992, the United Nations' (UN) International Day of Persons with Disabilities has been held annually on December 3.
It aims to increase the understanding of the issues around disabilities and attention to the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
With this in mind, Rhian Glynn, Hate Crime Community Engagement Officer for Dyfed Powys Police, reminds individuals not to suffer hostility in silence and urges the reporting of such behaviour, so that the Force’s Hate Crime Support Officers can offer the best service and support.
Recently Dyfed Powys Police ran a very successful seminar for the Hate Crime Support Officers on recognising disability hate crime and how to support such, with the support of local community members.
Rhian Glynn says, "Dyfed Powys Police will not tolerate any form of hate crime and will treat every report seriously".
There is also a third party reporting scheme that can be obtained in front counters of any police station and many public areas as well as on line at www.saferwales.com
Dyfed Powys Police also run Confidence & Equality forums around the Force and anyone who would be interested in attending is more than welcome to contact Rhian Glynn via 101.
