The latest 'View from Richmond Park' Carmarthen Town AFC column from the Carmarthen Journal -
Carmarthen Town AFC is working hard to strengthen its Academy for young players.
“The Academy is where we expect to develop the Welsh Premier League players of the future,” club chairman and secretary Gareth (GO) Jones said.
“We pride ourselves on being a great community club at Carmarthen and we want to make sure that young players have every opportunity to fulfil their potential with Carmarthen Town.
“We have teams at Under-19s, Under-16s, Under-14s and even Under-13s level and we have an excellent coaching team and training structure in place.”
The Under-19s have been looking to strengthen their current squad.

December 12 Cambrian & Clydach at Llanelli in the FAW Youth Cup, round three.
January 10 away at Cambrian and Clydach/
January 17 Haverfordwest County
January 24 away at AFC Porth.
January 31 away at Llanelli.
February 6 West End.
February 14 away at Pontardawe Town.
February 20 Briton Ferry Llansawel.
March 9 Afan Lido.
March 14 away at Port Talbot Town.
March 20 Caerau.
March 28 away at Brintirion Athletic.
April 4 Cwmaman Institute.
At under 16s and under 14s level, teams play in a South Wales pool consisting of Afan Lido, Cambrian & Clydach, Carmarthen Town, Haverfordwest County, Merthyr, Llanelli, Neath, Newport County, Newport YMCA, Pontardawe Town and Aberystwyth Town
All teams play eight Cup Group fixtures (teams will not play everyone in the group).
The top four teams will progress to the regional Quarter Final. Winners progress to the Semi-Final/Final.
The next scheduled fixtures for the Under 16s are –
February 6, away at Merthyr.
February 20, home to Llanelli.
March 6, away at Neath.
Under 14s fixtures are as follows –
February 6, away at Merthyr Town.
February 20, home to Llanelli.
March 6, away at Neath.
Next scheduled matches for the reserve team –
December 11 away at Felinfoel in Round 3 of the Senior Cup.
December 18, home versus West End Utd
An appeal has gone out for ball boys and ball girls at the ground.
“Being a ball boy and ball girl at the ground is a very rewarding experience and a great way of getting involved with the club,” said Carmarthen Town Executive committee vice-chairman Robert Lloyd.
“Of course, you get free admission to the ground and the chance to meet and chat to the players.
“You also get a free burger or hotdog at half-time!”

December 21 Haverfordwest (A) 7.30
December 26 Llanelli(A) 2.00
There will be no supporters bus for the Haverfordwest match, but there may be transport available for the Prestatyn away match.
