Warning to Carmarthenshire troublemakers

Troublemakers causing chaos in pubs and clubs this Christmas are being warned to Behave or Be Banned.
The BOBB scheme stops people causing bother not just in one pub - but all those in the area that have signed up to ban problem customers.
Supported by the Community Safety Partnership, it sees police working with licensees to combat violence and disorder as well as underage drinking and the use and supply of drugs in licensed premises.
In total, 180 licensed premises across Carmarthenshire have signed up and 98 people are currently banned.
The scheme was initially set up in the three main towns of Carmarthen, Llanelli and Ammanford but has now been rolled out to other areas including Llandeilo, Llandovery, Burry Port, Cross Hands and Llwynhendy/Felinfoel.
The council’s executive board member for community safety Councillor Pam Palmer said: “The BOBB scheme sends out a strong message that this type of unruly behaviour will not be tolerated.”
Council licensing officers will also be visiting licensed premises with police during the festive season to remind licensees of their responsibilities in relation to the sale of alcohol and its effects on customers.
Councillor Palmer added: “We want to make sure that premises are properly run and that everyone can enjoy themselves safely and responsibly over Christmas and the New Year.”
The Community Safety Partnership, which was set up to make the county a safer place to live, work and visit, is working hard to tackle violent and alcohol-related crime.
Community Safety Inspector Tony Ward said: “Anyone caught causing trouble over the festive period and throughout the year could find themselves banned from their favourite pubs.
“The BOBB scheme is one of a number of initiatives being carried out in Carmarthenshire to tackle violent and alcohol-related crime and is already proving to be very effective.”
• Carmarthen town – 34 premises have joined the scheme, 23 persons banned
• Carmarthen rural - 12 premises have joined the scheme, 15 persons banned
• Ammanford - 28 premises have joined the scheme, 13 persons banned
• Pembrey and Burry Port – 26 premises have joined the scheme, 3 persons banned
• Llanelli town – 10 premises have joined the scheme, 27 persons banned
• Llwynhendy/Felinfoel - 23 premises have joined the scheme, 7 persons banned
• Cross Hands – 19 premises have joined the scheme, 3 persons banned
• Llandeilo - 11 premises have joined the scheme, 6 persons banned
• Llandovery – 17 premises have joined the scheme, 1 persons banned

Former Gower MP Gareth Wardell was the guest speaker at the weekly meeting of Llanelli Rotary Club held at the Stradey Park Hotel. 'Class of 1980' from Burry Port enjoy reunion

There was a big class reunion held in Burry Port at the weekend. Members of the Class of 1980 from Porth Tywyn (Burry Port junior) School got together at The Coasting Pilot pub. The reunion was organised by Christine Rees and same 22 members of the original class of 28 turn up to discuss their old schooldays. One ‘Class of 1980’ member was Burry Port businessman Owain Davies. He said: “We all have very happy memories of our time in school. We had a fantastic teacher in Mr Heddwyn Jones, who now lives in Four Roads. “We were very fortunate to have the same teacher for three years and we were a very happy class. Mr Jones was an inspiring teacher and we all got on every well and we are all still good friends. “Heather Thomas (now Heather Osmond) made it from Surrey, but she was trumped by Gail Morris, who flew in from Ohio in the United States for the reunion. “It was a fantastic evening at the Coasting Pilot with good food, good wine and good company. Lauryn Davey is making her mark in athletics - but needs sponsors

Ammanford-based Lauryn Davey is making a major mark in the world of Welsh athletics. At just 16, she is the best all-round athlete of her age in Wales. She's chalking up Welsh championship victories and has been honoured by her club, the Carmarthen Harriers. Lauryn's been earmarked as a future international star, but knows the road to the big championships is difficult, demanding and expensive. Ammanford businessman and well-known comic entertainer Phil Evans has launched a campaign to get cash backers for Lauryn's athletics career. "Everyone in the area is hugely proud of her achievements in athletics to date," said Phil. "But we also want to see her go on and do bigger and better things.
